Job Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail to maintain accurate financial records and ensure the efficient operation of the school’s accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
School Fees Management:
- Prepare school bills for all students and ensure accurate invoicing.
- Maintain and update student financial records.
- Prepare billing summaries and analyze outstanding fees.
- Process and verify payments received via cash receipt journals.
- Generate financial reports related to tuition fees and reconciliations.
Student Population & Statistics:
- Prepare weekly reports on student enrollment and population changes.
- Maintain and update student class lists.
Treasury & Financial Management:
- Oversee petty cash and bank imprest reimbursements.
- Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate cash flow management.
- Maintain the school’s bank accounts and supporting ledgers.
General Accounting & Financial Reporting:
- Assist in daily financial decision-making related to school operations.
- Work closely with the Head of School to develop and implement budgets.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management review.
- Maintain a Fixed Assets Register and oversee inventory management.
- Conduct budget implementation monitoring with variance analysis reports.
- Provide financial advisory services and cost management strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role.
- ICAN qualification is an added advantage.
- Prior experience as a school accountant or in the education sector is highly desirable.
